Kauna-unahang subway sa Pilipinas, magagamit bago matapos ang termino ni Pangulong Duterte

The Philippines will soon have its own subway before President Rodrigo Duterte’s term ended.

According to Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, this is after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reiterated that the Japan will pledge $9 billion economic and infrastructure assistance for the country.

The said project which can accommodate 35,000 commuters every day is expected to lessen the heavy traffic felt every day in Metro Manila especially in the stretch of EDSA.

Andanar added that more than 13-million residents of Metro Manila will surely benefit the subway project which will be installed from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to FTI Complex in Taguig City. Additional lines going to NAIA terminals in Pasay City will also be built.

With the subway project, the travel time from Quezon City to Taguig City is expected to lessen from 1-2 hours down to 30 minutes.

In a joint news conference with Abe, President Duterte made the announcement of the said future project

“I am pleased with Japan’s reiteration that it is fully committed to give flesh to its one-trillion-yen pledge of assistance for the Philippines which covers high-impact and high-value infrastructure projects that my country needs to sustain and spur economic growth. These will include some of the most ambitious and groundbreaking projects, including the Metro Manila subway project and well as major developments in the regions and provinces,” Duterte said.

“Our commitment to further expand our cooperative ties show that the Philippines and Japan is building a golden age of strategic partnership,” he added.
